The Bluff was designed for a coastal setting. The geology of land creating a fault line, placed restrictions on the design. The Architects answer to this was a submerged basement abutting the fault. This works as a usable area that also anchors the residence as a footing.

The above ground construction features, two parallel plates cantilever off reinforced blockwork to extend the building footprint over the land slip-affected terrain created by the fault line. This gives the appearance that the dwelling is floating above the terrain.

The extensive use of glass, is designed to mirror the surrounding landscape.

Dark-stained spotted gum batten screens, make sure the residence blends in with the nature around it.
